Rotten food on the menu for Queensland Inmates.

Queensland prisoners have no choice but to spend their allowance on vitamins and tins of tuna as they say that they are being serviced meals that don’t meet basic nutritional requirements and fruit and vegetables that are rotten.

The Catholic Prison Ministry and Prisoners Legal Services conducted hundreds of interviews with inmates and discovered that a number of them  have been using their $15 weekly allowance on vitamins instead of phone calls to their families or toiletries.

The Department of Corrective Services has strongly rejected these allegations, saying that there are rigorous quality control procedures in place.
